1982年からNHKで放映されて大評判を呼んだ人形劇「三国志」全68話をDVD化。動乱の2世紀末の中国を舞台に、魏・呉・蜀の三国の興亡を描いた一大歴史ロマン「三国志演義」を見事にドラマ化。川本喜八郎が製作した人形達の緻密な動作に、思わず人形劇であることを忘れてしまうほどだ。谷隼人、石橋蓮司、森本レオ、せんだみつお、伊佐山ひろ子他、声優陣も豪華な顔触れ。子どもから大人まで楽しめる名作TVシリーズだ。
この最終巻には、映像特典としてこの「人形劇三国志」の芸術的な人形達の生みの親である川本喜八郎のインタビューが収録されている。
玄徳の死後、残された孔明は漢王朝再興を目指す。やがて五丈原でライバル・司馬仲達との最後の大決戦を迎えるのだが…。
第65回「孔明の愛の鞭」、第66回「出師の表」、第67回「泣いて馬謖を斬る」、第68回「孔明五丈原に死す」（最終話）の全4話を収録。
