To commemorate Japan TBS TV station's 50th anniversary, the TBS drama Rondo pools together big names from Japan and Korea to enact a perfect blend of romance and suspense. Yutaka Takenouchi, having charmed so many in various Japanese dramas, plays a Japanese detective who develops a romantic relationship with Choi Yuna, portrayed by Korean actress Choi Ji Woo who has moved many with her Winter Sonanta. This Japanese-Korean collaboration also stars Shin Hyun Jun, Lee Jung Hyun, and Kimura Yoshino. The star-studded cast alone is already a reason to watch Rondo!

Yutaka Takenouchi is Sho, a cop who is now working undercover in a secret organization and at the same time trying to investigate his father's death. Choi Yuna (Choi Ji Woo) and her sister (Lee Jung Hyun) runs a Korean restaurant in Japan, hoping to find their missing father one day. One day, Sho and Yuna, originating from two completely unrelated worlds, cross path in Tokyo...

Better Choi ji woo Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I have always hated CHOI JI WOOs acting ability. I feel its pathetic and stale. However, there was a scene in this series that made me think twice about her acting prowess. She probably just needs a good project to show her strenght as a woman protagonist. She was a convincing villain for once here in Rondo. the scene where she intends to kill her lover is the best part. Rondo script is different from other stereotype series, But the director failed to make it more exciting than it should be. The soundtrack is great. still worth watching.

 AS GOOD AS THEY GET... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
As someone reviewed earlier, the first episode left me uncertain about the feel of this drama. Any doubt was quickly disspelled. Rondo is the best drama I've seen in years. Lots of fast paced action without gratuitous gore; a plot that leaves your mouth hanging open in surprise and disbelief consistently throughout and to the end; a romance that fires the imagination without any sappiness or explicit scenes.

Cast was right on the money. Takenouchi Yutaka was great, as usual. Choi Ji-woo fit the bill and carried off the Korean/Japanese juggling act well. A high point was the award-winning Korean actor Shin Hyun Joon.

One word of warning.... This is what I would call an "audience participation" drama. It is so fast paced and involved both in the style of filming and the story line, that it requires mental effort to catch it all and (for me) to fully understand each twist and turn. Personally, I have watched each episode at least three times (others more). I'm not sure if this would apply to those who understand Japanese... a major factor may be that I rely on English subtitles and attention is divided between reading and watching the action on the screen.

 EXCELLENT DRAMA Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I would say this is by far my best drama series ever!!! The first episode wasn't that great it took me a week to start the second episode and from then on, it got me hook. The twists on the story will keep you glued till the end. The acting was superb and I'm glad they got the best cast there is. YT and CJW had sizzling chemistry and they were excellent on their parts. I like Jiwoo in here, and I hope she would get more roles like these in the future. This series definitely worth your bucks!!!

Raring this excellent because of the cast and the written reviews. I have not seen or ordered it because I understand only english. I would love to purchase it with english subtitles.
why don't they have english subtitles for the products with excellent reviews?????? isn't selling the items the reason they are produced??

This movie was recommond by my japanese friend. I am hook up with this movie not only the actor/actress, the story is quick well written. I am fall in love with the actor-yutako. he looks so cool and actress-woo is also beautiful. good to buy and keep it
