Solid Snake returns for the final(?) time in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Easily one of the most anticipated games in console gaming history, MGS4 brings Kojima Hideo's legendary video game series to a thematic close, with an aged Solid Snake meeting his destiny. The same acclaimed stealth action gameplay returns, along with the new features and innovations fans expect of the long-running series. Camouflage has been upgraded, and players have new weapons and tools at their disposal, including the "Metal Gear Mk. II", a robotic drone that allows for reconnaissance, communication, and even some combat.

In addition, this rumored final entry in the series brings back numerous fan-favorite characters, including Meryl Silverburgh from the first Metal Gear Solid, as well as old favorites Roy Campbell, Otacon, and the slippery Revolver Ocelot, now called Liquid Ocelot due to his partnership with Solid Snake's deceased twin, Liquid Snake. MGS4 promises a complex, compelling story wrapping up many of the running storylines and themes from previous Metal Gear games. Extensive cutscenes and voice-acting flesh out Kojima's cyber-militaristic world, with time given to new story elements as well as some recap, in case the several wait between MGS games has players feeling a little forgetful.

The hero of the original Metal Gear games, Snake returns five years after the "Big Shell Incident" depicted in Metal Gear Solid 2. The world has changed to the point where wars are openly fought for money and power, with PMCs (Private Military Companies) acting on behalf of business interests and the highest bidders. Liquid Ocelot now controls five of these PMCs, amassing a large enough army to invade the United States itself. With the balance of power once again at stake, Roy Campbell calls upon old soldier Solid Snake to return to the battlefield, with the assignment to terminate Liquid Ocelot before it's too late.

The Special Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots includes the game disc, a special Blu-ray disc containing two making-of documentaries, and a CD soundtrack, all contained in a limited edition box with artwork by series character designed Shinkawa Yoji.
