Eager for more from Qia Qi She Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Qia Qi She's "Ri Guang Qing Cheng" is a bit of a throwback. This very catchy pop album reminds me of a number of great girl-pop albums of the 1990s -- Faye Wong's "Di Dar", Tarcy Su's "Fool", and Angelica Li's "Bye Bye", in particular. I don't mean to imply that this album doesn't sound fresh; it certainly does. But it harkens back to an era of quirky pop music that I dearly loved.

Tracks 1 and 8 are the real standouts. Track 1, the title track, is classic pop/rock. This song would have been a hit 10 years ago and could be a hit again 10 years from now. It is perfectly crafted sonic bliss. It takes a while to realize that track 8 is built upon a reggae beat; it sounds nothing like a reggae melody, but that Jamaican beat makes the song infectiously enjoyable.

There are a few minor missteps. Track 2 is marred by a jarring key change and a couple of the songs try too hard to be clever, but on the whole this album serves up a heaping helping of bright, listenable, and memorable pop/rock tunes. Give me more throwbacks like this, please!
