Jewelry's melodious new gem!

The stellar female quartet from Korea kicked off their stunning Japan debut in 2004 and solidified their fame on the J-pop market via an energetic live performance in the land of the rising sun as well as their first Japanese LP in March 2005. Now they are ready for more chart-topping records via their Super Star release that marks their first album after their vol. 3 album Beloved that was released way back in July 2003. Lee Min Woo, a.k.a. M from the well-known Korean band Shinhwa lent them a hand for the lyrics of the principal track Super Star as a gesture of appreciation to the song's composer Park Koon-tae as he worked as producer for Shinhwa's albums in the past. As for the tune itself, it offers enchanting rock sounds with lyrics that revolve around the advantages and strengths of women – with four stunning chanteuses singing in perfect harmony can their be any doubt that Super Star will become another Super Hit for Jewelry?

Unexpectedly CatchyCustomer Review Rated 7 out of 10Tuesday, September 06, 2005
Reviewer: honhyulra  (See all this customer reviews)

I need to admit, as a guy, I found myself a bit wierded out by the fact that a few songs on this album were so catchy to me. I heard the song "Superstar" and, in fact, Jewelry, for the first time when I visited Korea this summer.

Korea has this way of constantly playing one song over and over again, similar to America, in fact. The only songs I heard was "Superstar" and "Saranghetnabwa" by Yoon Do Hyun. As annoying as it was to hear "Superstar" over and over again, it is an extremely catchy song. I decided to pick up the CD and I think I can say that I was pleased with the album.

Some of the ballads are a bit boring, dry, and a bit too typical, in my opinion. The more upbeat songs I really enjoyed, though. "Superstar," "Twenty," "Liar," and "I'll be there," are some of my favorite tracks. "I'll be there" is a bit reminiscent of "This is your night," an American dance classic, but pretty original sounding.

All in all this album is a fun album that gives a good feel all throughout. The songs are hit or miss, in my opinion, but overall a good buy.

superstarCustomer Review Rated Excellent - 10 out of 10Saturday, July 30, 2005

Superstar's really catchy and some other songs are pretty good. Park Jung Ah is the one thing holding the group together. Ji Yeon can't sing or rap, Min Ah can't sing live well and In Young's voice is irritating. Passion would have been much better if Jung Ah had been allowed to sing more. I wish Park Jung Ah would go solo.

AlrightCustomer Review Rated 8 out of 10Tuesday, July 12, 2005

hi.
this album was alright. not that great, but alright
Lee JiHyun needs to improve.
Park JunAh has a great voice, but i think Jo MinAh has an almost equally great voice as JungAh.
Suh InYoung is actually not bad, its just her voice that is a little high pitched... and "whiney"
Superstar is an addicting song and JungAh shows her vocal skill in it.
They can't rap at all.
Passion is alright, but its pretty short and it isnt that great.
but overall it was an alright album.
