A major breakthrough: "Life is like a dream" ~ Jacky Cheung

With careful calculations, Jacky Cheung, who has kept a low profile in recent years, has made a huge and storming comeback. As "Jiang Hu", the movie which Jacky Cheung stars in, is going to be shown on all the big silver screens in HK, the praised Canto-music god also rocks the market by releasing his first Cantonese album in three years. "Life is like a dream", the brand new album, includes 10 stunning music pieces.

This release is definitely unlike any of his previous efforts as the heavyweight singer has single-handedly composed all the 10 tunes in this album. Although not every single song is perfect, and even though the musical achievement of this album might not be as brilliant as the last "World-class"'s, "Life is like a dream" has definitely been Jacky's most stylish and personalised album in two decades. "Life is like a dream" is a major breakthrough for Jacky in his 20-year sensational singing career.

Time and recent visits to hell (losing friends forever) and heaven (giving birth to his daughter) leave their marks in Jacky's performance. When he sings about life this time, it's something deep, it's touching, it's in him, it's just different. Having walked through various stages in life, Jacky truly sings the 10 songs in "Life is like a dream" from the bottom of his heart.

Dedicated to his wife, the leading track "Tell You" (Track#9) adds to his favourite "Declaration of Love" song collection, previous pieces include "I Have You", "World-class", etc. It is not easy to master the song, but Jacky's performance proves that this legendary singing pro still has what it takes to capture his audience. In "Tell You", Jacky confirms us once again that he is very good at expressing the feeling of deep and underlying love in songs implicitly.

The beautiful and poetic, yet sadly moving "To My Friends" (Track#7) starts with an extremely touching voice over. "Cuddling Yiu" (Track#10), which sounds like a nursery rhyme, is a special gift for his beloved daughter.

As for the other songs, ballad "Would Rather Be Wrong" (Track#8), title song "Life is like a dream" (Track#4), "She" (Track#6) and "Lag Behind" (Track#5) are unmissable. As for "A Brave Story", the "Police Magazine" theme song, it is better than the one by Andy Hui.
